- IPL 2020 to be played from September 19, final to be held on November 8, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirms.
The official announcement has been made about the 13th season of the Indian Premier League. IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel has officially confirmed when and where IPL 2020 will be played. If the IPL chairman is to be believed then the entire tournament will be played in the UAE (i.e., United Arab Emirates). Brijesh Patel has also told us that the IPL will start on September 19, while the final match will be played on November 8.
IPL chairman Brijesh Patel has told news agency PTI that the Indian Premier League 2020 will begin on September 19, while the final will be played on November 8. The BCCI has finalized three places in the UAE for the 13th season of the IPL, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. All the IPL matches will be played at these three places because the Coronavirus pandemic in India is not under control.
Let us know that the IPL 2020 was supposed to start from March 29, but before that, the coronavirus cases had come up in India. In such a situation, the BCCI had postponed the league till April 15, but on April 16, the BCCI postponed it indefinitely. However, at one time it seemed that the IPL would not be held this year, as the BCCI had no window left, but the postponement of the two major tournaments gave the IPL a window.
In fact, after the postponement of the first Asia Cup and then the ICC T20 World Cup 2020, the BCCI got a September-November window to host the world’s most expensive T20 league, as the Asia Cup was to be held in September and then October-November. The T20 World Cup was supposed to be held in India but these tournaments have been canceled for this year.
The Indian team will have to remain in isolation for 14 days on arrival there as per the Government rules, the official said. It can cause trouble with delay. The good thing about this 51-day program will be that there will be less of two matches in one day. With the tournament running for seven weeks, we can stick to the original schedule of organizing two matches for five days.
As all franchises have demanded earlier, every team will need at least one month’s time to practice and the franchisees will reach the venue by 20 August. This will give them four weeks of preparation time.
