Team Announced  For SA Tour- Shardul and Kedar make to the team.

The Board for Control of Cricket in India has announced the 17- man squad for the tour to South Africa, Surprisingly KL Rahul hasn’t been given the chance even after his super form in the recent T20 Series with Srilanka. Mohammed Shami has made it to the team along with Shardul and Kedar for the series.

The top wrist spinners of the team Ashwin and Jadeja are being kept aside in the 17-man squad by the Bcci, the recent spin duo Chahal and Kuldeep have made it to the team. These will play along with the pace brigade of Jamsit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar along with Mohammed Shami and newbie Shardul Thakur. And Axar Patel has also been placed into 17-man Squad.

What comes to a surprise is Rahane has been included in the squad even after his poor performance in the recent series. The selectors have backed him as his overseas numbers speak volumes. Apart from these, Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey are included in the list. The player’s recent performance in the short formats has given the selectors the confidence to bank on the two new faces. The middle order line up also has the likes of Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya.

Indian Squad:  Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, Shikar  Dhawan, Ajinkya  Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Manish  Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh  Karthik, MS  Dhoni (wk), Hardik Patel, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzuvendra  Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasmit  Bumrah, Mohammed  Shami, Shardul Thakur.

Are you guys missing some big names on the list, so we do?  The selectors have again ignored  Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina, veteran Yuvraj did clear the Yo-Yo test two weeks back and so did  Suresh Raina two days back.

The ODI series will kick off in Durban after the completion of test series on Feb 1st which will be a day/night.The rest series will follow. The record for India hasn’t been that great in ODI’s  in South Africa. India has played 28 ODI’s in South Africa, out of which India has lost 21 and won 5.
