Superstar Rajinikanth on his political entry-“Never aspired to be the CM”. Full details inside
Superstar Rajinikanth made the announcement on his political innings agenda in a press meet held today at Leela Palace. Rajinikanth made it clear that he does not aspire to be the chief minister of the state, instead, a deserving & educated person shall be the CM. He further added that Dravidian parties are running their political parties as businesses but he wishes to change that by employing well-qualified, expert candidates into his party. Here is what he said:
“60-65% of my party shall consist of educated and qualified youngsters followed by 30-35% who shall be honest politicians, bureaucrats, and social workers. Age limit & education will be crucial factors while selecting the candidates for my party. Our country has many experienced and honest IAS & IPS officers who have earned a very good reputation but are hesitant to enter politics. Why is that? I shall urge all such Beurocrats and social workers to take a plunge into politics. In fact, I myself will meet some of them and request them to join politics. The political arena of Tamil Nadu needs young blood. I’ve been in the film industry for 45 years now. All the adoration and love I’ve received over the years is a blessing and I will use my position to make a difference.I will make sure that no resources are being wasted by my party. If you look at all political parties in India, the government heads are usually the party’s heads which creates a situation where there are no questions asked for 5 years. Even if someone dares to ask questions, that person is thrown out. that’s why I feel a political party should have one head and the government should have another head. A leader must be accountable to people and be answerable to them. A government must focus on the implementation of solutions as its first step. This is what I aim to achieve through my party. So, am I the party head or the government head? I can’t imagine myself sitting in assembly as a chief minister. They tried to convince me to prove myself to the Dravidian parties but I’ve decided to be the party head and someone who is deserving, well educated, caring and knowledgeable will be the chief minister. This person who becomes the CM will be answerable to the people and will make sure that everyone in my party is doing their duties rightfully. Usually, no new person gets leadership roles in political parties. You need connections to enter into good positions. With my party, I will ensure that will change and the criteria shall be of a minimum age limit as well as education. I will give new and deserving people a voice if my party wins.”
Many people were rooting for this press meet for concrete details on the launch of his political party but on the contrary, Rajinikanth did not make any statement on floating his party but called for a “revolution” by youth, after which he would make his formal political entry. He briefly recalled the two stalwarts of Tamil Nadu politics, Jayalalithaa and Kalaignar. He said people voted for them but after their demise, they left behind a vacuum. He urged the youth to come forward and create a new movement to bring change.
