Rajinikanth calls RMM for a meet to announce his political party tomorrow? Find out.
Tamil Nadu has a series of cross-over politicians from the cinema world for years now. Actor Rajinikanth is set to join the league soon by announcing his political party on Thursday, according to a media report. Rajinikanth made news of joining politics on December 31, 2017, and said that his party will contest the 2021 elections, since then, he is yet to announce the name of his party & candidates list. On March 5, Rajinikanth met with district functionaries of the Rajini Makkal Mandram, after which RMM office-bearers stated that Rajinikanth does not want to be the Chief Ministerial face of his soon-to-be-launched political party. RMM functionaries reportedly called and confirmed to major news daily that Rajinikanth’s office on Tuesday night called them and asked them to be present at 9 am on Thursday at a marriage hall owned by Rajinikanth in Chennai. Major speculations arise that Rajinikanth is likely to announce a political program followed by a formal launch of the party.
There are other speculations doing rounds that suggest Rajini will take his political plunge on 14 April, on “Puthuvarusham”, the Tamil New Year. A close friend of Rajinikanth, Tamilaruvi Manian, a Tamil scholar, had some insider news to share to a Chennai based daily. He said, “it will happen between April and September this year. There would be a big party conference in September. Just like DMK and AIADMK, Rajini has started appointing booth committee members in all the 234 Assembly constituencies. As of now, 80% of the work has been completed and the remaining will be completed very soon. This is a very big task Rajini has completed and this shows how serious he is about launching the party. His party infrastructure, including bylaws, its policies, what issues need to be mentioned in the manifesto, etc are all ready.”
So, is he going to announce his party anytime soon? Well, we’ll have to wait and see.
