Mohanlal after donating 50 lakhs, interacts and sings to Health workers
Mohanlal, the superstar of the Malayalam industry is currently residing in his Chennai residence amid the 21-day nationwide lockdown. On Wednesday, the actor interacted with 250 health professionals and Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja through a video conference. The interaction was about an hour ling where he thanked the healthcare professionals for their services during the Corona crisis. During the interaction, Mohanlal broke into a song to cheer up the healthcare workers. He sang the popular Malayalam film song “Lokem muzhuven sukem pakeran ayi snehadeepeme mizhi thureku” from the 1972 film “Snehadeepame Mizhi Thurakku” which was directed by AP Bhaskaran. The principal of the Kannur Medical College, N Roy who was a part of the video call interaction said that he was Mohanlal’s classmate at the Government Model High School in the state capital. Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja thanked Mohanlal for interacting with the selfless health professionals.
Mohanlal donated Rs. 50 Lakhs to Kerala Chief Minister’s relief fund which was revealed by CM Pinarayi Vijayan during a press meet on Tuesday. His contribution makes him the first actor from the Malayalam film industry to have donated. Mohanlal also reportedly penned a letter to CM of Kerala thanking him for the precautionary measures and guidelines enforced by the State Government to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Mohanlal was also part of an awareness video titled Family which featured Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Rajinikanth, Diljit Dosanjh, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Chiranjeevi, and Prosenjit Chatterjee. The film was meant to raise awareness on the importance of staying at home and how it will help fight against the deadly virus. On the professional front, Mohanlal is currently waiting for the release of his historical film based on real-life warrior Kunjali Marakkar, a naval chief of the Zamorin of Kozhikode. The film is titled Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, directed by Priyadarshan.
