India mourns the death of BJP stalwart and People’s politician: Sushma Swaraj.
On Tuesday, Aug 6th, the nations mourn the death of “People’s Minister” Sushma Swaraj. Former External Affairs Minister passed away at the age of 67 after she suffered a Cardiac Arrest.
PM Modi said her demise was a “personal loss” for him. Many other politicians across all other parties expressed their condolences.
Sushma Swaraj was the epitome of grace and grit. She was an effective parliamentarian and true voice of the people. She was an icon of women, empowerment, and one who cared for Indians across the world. There can never be a replacement. Her achievements from a student leader to Foreign Minister are commendable. There were several firsts to her credit over her long political career which includes the country’s youngest cabinet minister, first woman CM for Delhi, first woman spokesperson for any national party. She was also the world’s most-followed woman political leader.
Undoubtedly Sushma Swaraj was the best External Affairs Minister till date and one of the best cabinet ministers in Modi government. Famous for being most helpful, tech-savvy and great orators.
She has received applause from the entire world.
Life and Career:
Sushma Swaraj was born in Haryana on 14th Feb 1952. She was Sushma Sharma before her marriage to Swaraj Kaushal. Sushma Swaraj was a Political science and a Sanskrit student. She also received Best Cadet for NCC for three consecutive years. She had interests in classical music, poetry, and fine arts. She was definitely an all-rounder. She started practice as an advocate in the Supreme court and began her political career in the 1970s.
India’s Best-loved Politician:
She was recognized a Best-loved Politician may be due to her attention towards distressed Indians abroad. Sushma Swaraj actively helped resolve problems. She started resolving issues like passports and visas of common people and ensured help reach thousands of Indians. She was active on social media. Her tweet “ Rohaan- Keep smiling” to a Pakistani child who had a heart surgery done in India, was applauded by both nations. There were several other occasions where Swaraj rocked the twitter. The best of all was when she gave a witty response saying ‘even if you are stuck on Mars, Indian embassy will be there to help you” to a man who sought her help as he said he was stuck on Mars.
Sushma not only emerged as a Modi’s best performing minister but one of his most trusted. No controversy could dent her credibility. She remained elusive and PM stood solidly behind her. Swaraj devoted herself to work, her capacity to work hard, understand complex issues, good memory and command over language made her stand out as a great politician.
Just hours before her demise Sushma Swaraj congratulated PM Modi and his government for revoking the special status for Jammu and Kashmir saying ‘ I was waiting to see this day in my life” This tweet has left millions of her supporters and admirers in grief. May her Rest In Peace.
