Neredmet Inspector A. Narasimha Swamy said the body was sent to the Osmania Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
MLA spoke to the locals:
A pal of gloom descended on the colony. 12-year-old Sumedha’s mother Sukanya couldn’t believe that her daughter was dead found by falling into drainage. “She was a very careful girl”, Sukanya said. Her father cries out that this incident took place just because of Government negligence.
Local MLA Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao said about 300 people had built houses on the drainage by narrowing it. As a result, water from four colonies in the area has a narrow path to flow into the lake. The MLA gave an assurance that the locals will resolve the issue shortly. Neredmet Police were investigating further on the tragedy.
