Barring COVID-19-infected Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, the rest of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players will now start practice for the Indian Premier League (IPL) as all of them have had negative results after the third round Test. These results have given a major relief to the franchise as 13 of its members were found positive for COVID-19 last week.
The tournament will be played from September 19 in three cities Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, a big update has emerged regarding the training session in Chennai.
CSK CEO K S Viswanathan told PTI that training will begin today. Except for those 13, the test of everyone else has also come negative for the third time. Those who had tested positive will be tested again only after completing the quarantine (14 days).
Apart from Deepak and Ruturaj, 11 members of the Chennai team staff will be tested twice next week after completing the 14-day quarantine period. Two of his test negatives are required before starting practice.
Meanwhile, there was no confirmation from the player and CSK about the delay of veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh joining the team. There are speculations that he may withdraw from the tournament due to personal reasons. Viswanathan declined to comment on this.
CSK has three other key spinners apart from Harbhajan. These include leg-spinner Imran Tahir, left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner and leg-spinner Piyush Chawla.
