A person hailing from Andhra Pradesh who tested positive with Corona Virus had visited Galleria Mall in Punjagutta on March 11. Telangana State health officials upon receiving the information had urged people who visited Galleria Mall Punjagutta on March 11 to self-quarantine and take precautionary health check-ups. For any further queries, the officials urged people to call 104 helpline number. They’ve asked people to access healthcare if any flu-like symptoms arise.
Currently, Telangana state has 16 positive cases, 711 persons in-home quarantine and 1,290 in government quarantine facilities. Telangana state government is doing it’s best to contain the spread of Coronavirus, including screening of 700 people at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday alone. Telangana CM KCR called for an emergency state-level meeting yesterday and spoke on precautionary measures that need to be followed by everyone. KCR also urged the public to celebrate Ugadi and Sri Rama Navami celebrations at home and not to create mass gatherings in temples or in public. The state government has also requested agriculture, research, and management institute to allot buildings to convert them into quarantine zones. Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), NIRD (National Institute of Rural Development, NAARM (National Academy of Agricultural Research and Management) and MANAGE (National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management) have offered few buildings that can accommodate 2,000 beds for quarantine. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a people’s curfew on Sunday to prevent a surge in COVID-19 cases. In an address to the nation on Thursday, Modi asked citizens to voluntarily stay indoors from 7 am till 9 pm on Sunday. So far, the coronavirus has spread to 159 countries infecting more than 222,000 people and claiming over 9,000 lives. India has reported 189 cases, with four deaths and 14 recoveries.
