Andhra Pradesh airports gear up for receiving domestic flights starting May 25th

Airports in the state of Andhra Pradesh are now getting ready to resume its domestic flight services following the permission of the Union government in this regard. As per the Union government’s order, flights can resume its operation from the 25th of May.

Preliminary news say that about 25 flights will operate from Vishakhapatnam airport. The four active airports, including international airports of Vishakhapatnam and Vijayawada and the other domestic airports of the state including Rajhamundry are actively involved in making arrangements for resuming the flight operation.

Out of the 36 flight services in Vishakhapatnam, inclusive of international, only eight domestic services will function for now. Flight services for Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Bengaluru. New Delhi and Chennai flights is expected to run late at night, while Bengaluru and Hyderabad flights will run in the opening hours.

On the other hand, Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam airport are also gearing up for the non-scheduled flights, carrying Indians who are stranded abroad, an initiative of the Vande Bharat mission.

Sources say that the airport will be properly sanitized after the arrival and departure of each flight. The airport officials have also not received any schedule regarding the domestic flights as yet.

Passengers are expected to go through five safety and security procedures before boarding a flight. They are also expected to show their boarding pass and identity card at the entrance, along with filling out a declaration form and having to undergo infrared thermal test. Tickets will be verified electronically and the boarding passes will be put under a camera.

No personal security check will be conducted and hand sanitizers will be made available at every small distance, including the airport entrance. After the baggage screening, passengers are expected to put identification marks on their bags.
